I was reminded today CAN-SPAM is still an active regulation for commercial email. Businesses are still required to place a valid street address in the body of their marketing emails. According to ChatGTP: "it's important to note that several federal laws and regulations govern commercial email communications, including the CAN-SPAM Act (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) and the CASL (Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation) in Canada. The CAN-SPAM Act, which applies to commercial emails sent to recipients in the United States, requires that marketing emails include a valid physical postal address. This requirement serves to provide recipients with a means to contact the sender and opt-out of future emails. While the CAN-SPAM Act doesn't specify the exact format or placement of the address, it is generally recommended to include a valid mailing address in marketing emails to comply with the law and build trust with recipients." #marketing #email #communications #law
